My Dog is a Nut
posted in General |This is Perrin. He’s named after Perrin Goldeneyes, a character in Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series. He’s a mutant border collie; in theory, he’s purebred border collie, but he’s about seventy pounds and his torso is out of proportion (lengthwise) to his legs. However, he has traditional “border collie” tendencies; he tries to herd the cats, he loves staring at them, and all he wants is to make us happy. He’s one of our two fine dogs.
Perrin was our “pound rescue” dog; Honor, the Aussie, went to Klamath Falls for the summer, and ran around for months with three other dogs. When she came home, we all agreed that she was moping. She’d lay on the couch, get up, sigh, go look at the food bowl, then go lie down again.
So we got Perrin from the Humane Society. We’re his third family. He has serious abandonment issues. When we take him to the kennel for boarding, he pees on the floor in a desperate attempt to show that he’s a good submissive dog.
Perrin hates the lawn mower, the vacuum cleaner, and, as evidenced by this picture- the little can of air you blow dust bunnies out of the computer with. He’s been known to charge the lawn mower while it’s running and bite the tires.
