Girls?

posted in General |

Any suggestions on books / videos to help my daughter learn to navigate through those 8-12 year old rocky girl-girl relationships?

Cynthia Voigt and Madeleine L’Engle Books would be two authors I remember well from that age. Andre Norton and Anne Mcaffery as well, thou thouse are more for the fantasy aspects, then young adult stuff.

Mercedes Lackey’s Heralds series too, touches on young adult issues, …not so much girl girl stuff as much as girl world stuff. Thou that could be said for all of them. I dont know that there is much girl girl realtionship/howto bond books. Huck Finn maybe *grin*

Something that might help you and Ms. B prepare for it is the book “Odd Girl Out.” It talks about bullying in its various forms.

And Judy Blume rules. Might not be appropriate until 10 or 11, though.
