Disneyland®

posted in General |

As some of you know, we planned a trip to Disneyland® last summer. This summer is looking more promising, with Mrs B having vacation time set up and with our buds E and A planning to come along. While we have an offer from a very generous friend to stay in his palatial mansion, we want to subject our kids to the entire experience…

But now I’ve stumbled across this blog, written by Pixar employees on how to “fix” Disney. And what I’m reading is that the Disneyland® of today is more corporate, more commercial even than it was seven years ago when we took Miss B.

Do these stories match up to reality?

My palatial accomodations await your presence.

But it is true, that the park is one big moneypit. We go there, and like the rides, but we also pack food, and stick to buying small things, or ONE thing each. There is no shortage of stores hawking wares…

There is a new improved SPACE MOUNTAIN…be we haven’t tried it yet.

And California Adventure was just a big flop. They have good rides on the “boardwalk,” but that is like 20% of the park. VERY lackluster.

I love going to disneyland. Even if it is a big money pit. Main Street USA always makes me smile. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance if you want to save some money during the day. We usually just stick to eating somewhere in disney.

California Adventure, which always struck me as pointless, considering that it’s located in the same state that it showcases. It would be about as pointless as building Epcot in Europe…
