That's why I don't like these 'cut and dry' rules like the ones that required the meerkats to be killed; I would much rather have had the zoo demonstrate the effort required to defeat the safety measures, and require that the parents decide whether to give their daughter rabies shots, or take their chances. It is criminal that the animals had to be punished for the obliviousness of that girl and her parents. Yeah, this kind of thing really gets my goat; glad to see I'm not alone.
