Malkin

She came to us as a rescue from the dumpster; Mrs B found her and a sister dumped. That was some fourteen years ago or so. She’s been having some thyroid problems and we knew that she was sick and not doing well. She did chomp the hell out of Miss K’s thigh this morning (she did not want to be messed with; she was laying on the warm stair above the furnace.) We didn’t know her end was so soon; we’ll bury her under the lilacs tomorrow morning.
Malkin was … mostly sweet, but once in a while you’d pet her too much and she’d get over stimulated and go psycho. She drooled when she was really happy, and she loved to sleep on our heads in the bed. Her favorite food was tunafish from a can and she knew when we were making tuna casserole. She loved being outside. She hated being left alone for too long and she could be vindictive (what cat couldn’t?).
Once when she was a kitten, I was playing (messing with) her (yeah this is my most commonly told story about her), I got tired of playing and started walking away. She roared and pounced on my ankle, then jumped off and walked away. “Now we’re finished, bastard!” I could imagine her saying.
